I can’t thank the committee at the Calgary Stampede enough for inviting me to come up during the Stampede and host a podcast during the Rocky Mountain Cup. Although it’s not team roping in the rodeo, the production and payout is still up to Calgary Stampede standards and has the sport headed in the right direction. I first sat down with Canadian Team Roping Icon, Rocky Dallyn. He’s a multiple time canadian champion and a 2002 Olympic Gold Medal winner in the Team Roping. Rocky took me throught the evolution of team roping in Cananda and the major role he played to get it to where it is today. Next, I had another great visit with CEO John Cowley. He filled me in on some of the new exciting things that are happening at the Stamepede Park, and gave some stats from the most recent economical impact study that shows just how much revenue the Stampede brings into not just Calgary but to the Province of Alberta. Following Joel, I chatted with Lane Boisjoli who is the Vice Chair of the rodeo commitee about the success of the Rocky Mountain Cup, and some of the up and coming team roping events to be hosted at the Stampede Park. Finally, I interviewed some familiar faces to the podcast in Corbin Rice and Cooper Freeman, the Champions of the Rocky Mountain Cup, adding another huge win to their resume in 2026 and solidifying their first trip to the NFR.
